The independence of our research is the only asset we cannot replace. Below is the complete picture of who pays for the work cited in sixty-three parliamentary debates.

Roughly 78% of the institute’s annual operating budget comes from individual subscribers across 47 countries — including paid members of the Legislative Professional and Institutional tiers, and voluntary contributions above the standard subscription. No single member contributes more than 0.4% of annual revenue.

The remaining 22% comes from three foundations whose bylaws prohibit corporate influence on grant decisions and whose financial statements are public. Each foundation files an annual disclosure with the institute, published in full on the About page.

The institute accepts no funding from corporations, trade associations, lobbying firms, or government bodies. This rule is written into the founding bylaws (2011) and has not been amended. Any unsolicited corporate offer is declined in writing and logged in the annual report.

We do not endorse parties or candidates. Our research is cited across the political spectrum — by governing parties and opposition parties in the U.S., the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Hungary — because we publish the underlying data alongside every conclusion.

Subscriber questions
Every Dispatch email carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom that processes the request immediately and confirms in writing. Paid tiers may also be cancelled by replying “cancel” to any invoice email — the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and a pro-rated refund is issued automatically for annual subscriptions.
We hold only what we need to send the Dispatch and respond to subscriber enquiries: name, email, country, and tier. We never sell, trade, or share the list with third parties. Payment data is handled by our PCI-compliant processor; the institute itself never sees card numbers. Records are retained for seven years for tax-compliance purposes, then deleted on a rolling schedule.
Yes, with attribution. Legislative Professional and Institutional subscribers may quote brief excerpts and reproduce charts in committee submissions, hearing testimony, and parliamentary questions, provided the citation reads “Combating Globalization Institute, Dispatch, [date]” or “CGI staff research” for unpublished material. We provide a citation-formatting guide on request.
The website carries the public Briefs Archive and the searchable Offshoring Impact Database — both free to read. The Dispatch adds three things the public site does not: the week’s headline finding before it is folded into a longer brief, the data behind that finding in tabular form, and the policy implication tied to the current parliamentary calendar. Roughly 60% of Dispatch content is later expanded into full briefs; the remaining 40% is editorial and never appears elsewhere.
